Fun with Coates!

I know, that was a lame play on words. No we didn't try on a bunch of coats, or dress up in our favorite coat, we had a great day with the Coates family. It started early with Kendra and Tyler going to the San Tan mall and playing in the water and playground area. They had a great time and I have never seen two usually quiet kids talk sooooo much. It honestly made me laugh every time I looked over at those two. They had a great time. We followed that up with a "red neck" (Monica's description of the wonderful environment)adventure to Golden Corral. I obviously fit in with everybody as I stuffed my face. The kids all thought they were in paradise as Cody had 3 different trips to the ice cream bar alone. I think the one who ate the most has to go to Tyler, as I think he ate 3 full plates of food. He is going to be 6'10" if he keeps eating like that. It was awesome. We followed that up with even more "red neck" activity, as we headed down to the Power Ranch pond for some late night catfish fishin'. Wouldn't you know it but the Coates' boys landed two big whopping catfish. What a great day! Thanks to the whole Coates clan for puttin' up with us and helping us have a fun filled day.

Baby Dane

I'm sitting here at 1:30 in the morning trying to figure out how to get information on how Baby Dane is doing. Unfortunately Google doesn't have the answers I need. I hope all is well and that he was only concussed. Our prayers are with him as well as Monica and Warren and all the Coates boys. I pray he will be fine as I already have plans for him and my yet to be born child and the Welker's yet to be born boy to all be on the same football team ala the Magnificent 3 of Jace, Cody, and Dylan. What can I say, we (all the neighborhood parents) breed good football kids! Get well soon Daner!

Bucs almost sweep the undefeated teams!

What an amazing night of football we had on Saturday! It started out at 3pm when the Bucs (with a struggling offense but solid D)faced off against the Steelers (solid offense and solid defense). It started fast for the Bucs as Connor took the opening handoff and went straight up the middle and ran the whole length of the field for a touchdown. The defense showed it was up to the test as I don't believe they even gave up a single first down the whole game. The second half was a coming out party for the offense as they scored their first long bomb touchdown of the season from the mis-judged arm of Jace. I've never seen someone so small throw the ball so far, it truly is a sight to behold. I will try and take some video of it sometime. It honestly looks like the ball is shooting out of the ground. (Sorry Jace, but it's true.)Then shortly after Jace went back to pass and dodged the blitz and ran the length of the field for the third TD of the day. Throw in 2 two point conversion passes and the final score was 22-0 BUCS!!!!! After a seemingly short 3 hour break, the Bucs Squared off against the league leading Giants. A team whose players really match the name of the team. I think their average player was at least a half a foot taller than our tallest player. Also important to note is that they only had, in 6 previous games given up 50 points.(that's less than 9 points a game on average) The Giants high octane offense took the field and expected to light up the night with fireworks for sure, but got sucker punched in the mouth. On the second play of the game Jace pic'd the quarterback's pass and ran it to within 5 yards of the touchdown. Two plays later Derek Ness caught his first touchdown pass of the year to give the Bucs the early and surprising lead, 6-0. After a great defensive hold, we got the ball back and a deep out and up to Connor Mills and we were up 12-0. You could sense the concern on the opposite side of the field. Unfortunately our defense fell down a bit before half and we allowed 2 late touchdowns and trailed 13-12 at half. We came out in the 2nd half and threw a long bomb to Cody Coates,(one of the most beautiful catches I have ever seen, pro or otherwise) who ran it in for the go ahead score to go up 19-13. After a few lucky plays by the Giants they were able to take the lead back and were up 26-19 with 30 seconds left in the game. We got the ball and the first play was a deep pass to Cody Coates and he almost broke it but was ruled out of bounds at midfield. We had one last play and were unable to convert for the touchdown but almost pulled off the greatest double upset ever in the history of flag football. I am so proud of the team and all the kids. I predict a big trophy in the near future. GO BUCS!!!!!

All about Steve.

I was surprised to see no one comment on the "or Steve" portion of my wife's post. In case you were wondering about that, I will explain. One night, my wife and I, with Kendra in tow, went to Wal Mart. After the 157th "Daddy" from Kendra, I responded that Daddy wasn't here. She asked who I was and I informed her that I was Steve. Every time she would try and ask me a question I would not respond to her until she asked Steve. This went on through the whole store and even on the way home. We had purchased some candy at the store and proceeded to eat it on the way home. When Kendra asked Steve if she could have some I responded that she should ask her mom, which she did, and her mom stated she should ask her dad. Not even hesitating she said that her dad would be fine with it and we should give her some right away. Of course Steve had to give her a hard time saying that we should wait until we got back to her house to ask her dad. She still said her dad would be fine but asked if Steve could come inside and meet Dad. I asked her what her dad was doing and she said probably playing Xbox, which she said Steve could probably play with her dad. Needless to say Steve didn't want to meet her dad. So he escaped out the garage when we got back dad came in the side of the house to see what was going on. If you are confused you are probably not alone as my daughter wasn't sure what to think after that. A few weeks later after processing what had happened that night, she asked Laura if she remembered when dad said he was Steve, and laughing, said that was funny how he tricked us. Now you know the story of Steve.

A song for Chris (or Steve)

Since you put some songs on here for me-Here's a song I dedicate to you (see Lucky by Jason Mraz). Luv u.

Music at my wife's request.

I have added some more music at the request of Laura. The first two songs I affectionately refer to as elf music, as it is what I imagine they would play. Anyways, I hope you all enjoy and I should have a meatier post in the near future. Peace!
